Mandarin Tea Table Base
Mandarin Tea Table Base
(free shipping)
Tea in the garden is a ritual best kept unhurried, and it wants a table that sits square and steady among the planting. This base, from the Dynasty collection by O'Brien Ironworks, measures thirty-five inches on each side and stands at a comfortable twenty-nine, a size that welcomes a teapot, a plate of shortbread and two or three friends. Its Mandarin name hints at the lacquered pavilions of the East; in Chinese red it glows against glossy camellia leaves, while in black it reads as crisp as calligraphy. Crown it with glass or stone, and set it in the dappled shade of a loquat, where the breeze carries the scent of tea olive.
