Small tables do much of the quiet work of a garden, and this one does it handsomely. Twenty inches by eighteen, and eighteen high, it settles beside a lounge chair or at the end of a settee, carrying the Greek key motif in miniature, a neat, angular border that pleases the eye at close range. Top it with a round of glass for an evening candle and a glass of wine as the crickets start up. In Sage it melts into a planting of silver-leaved artemisia and soft lamb's ears.
