French Wire Planter

Wirework has a lightness that solid planters cannot match. Light passes through it, so a planter seems almost to float among the leaves it holds. This French wire planter is long and shallow, thirty-three inches across and just thirteen deep, sized for a windowsill's worth of colour set at a comfortable height. Line it with moss and fill it with trailing nasturtiums and herbs for a kitchen terrace, or with ferns and white impatiens for a shaded porch. In faux verdigris it looks as though it has stood in a Normandy courtyard for a century; in black it is crisp and graphic against a pale wall.
