Fairborn Coffee Table

There is something of the cafe garden about a round black table: the iron chairs of a Paris square, chestnut leaves stirring overhead. This one is set low for lounging and broad enough to gather around, its slatted top throwing thin bars of shadow onto the floor beneath when the sun is high. Splayed legs are braced by a crossed stretcher, all of it in hand-painted black aluminium, so the whole piece reads as a crisp line drawing. Bring it into the middle of a seating group on the terrace, crowned with a shallow bowl of floating gardenias or a cluster of citronella candles.
