Directoire Console Base
Directoire Console Base
(free shipping)
Directoire design was born in the brief, clear-eyed years after the French Revolution, when ornament was pared back and line was allowed to speak. This console base carries that restraint into metal: a long, slender frame 48 inches across and just 18 deep, standing at a confident 36 inches so that whatever rests on top meets the eye. Crown it with honed marble or a sheet of glass and let the ironwork show through. In a garden room or entrance hall it makes a fine perch for a pair of urns spilling ivy, a bowl of Meyer lemons, or a stack of well-thumbed gardening books.
