Centurion Curule Cocktail Table Base
Centurion Curule Cocktail Table Base

Long drinks call for low tables, set where the evening breeze off the water can reach. This cocktail table base, forty-four inches long and seventeen high, gives the curule's crossed legs a horizontal stretch, a little like a Roman bench turned to the service of the cocktail hour. Lay a slab of marble or a pane of glass across it and set it before an outdoor sofa on the terrace, with a low bowl of floating gardenias and a Meyer lemon in a terracotta pot nearby. Black gives it graphic edge; faux verdigris makes it look as though it has always been there.
