Centurion Curule Backless Settee

Without a back, a seat becomes something more architectural, a piece you can approach from either side. This backless curule settee, fifty inches long, has the poise of a bench in a sculpture gallery, and it works the same way outdoors: placed along a path or at the edge of a pool, it offers a moment's rest without blocking the view. Its neo-classical lines suit formal planting best, with box parterres, standard bay trees and the cool white heads of Annabelle hydrangeas. A loose cushion makes it kinder for long afternoons.
