Campo Wall Sconce IV - Black

Some lights ask to be looked at; others direct the eye elsewhere. This one, a deep cone of black metal angled from a straight iron arm, does the latter, drawing attention down to the step, the threshold, the pot of clipped boxwood beneath it. The funnel shape has an industrial frankness, tempered by tidy proportions of fourteen inches in every direction. It suits a modern farmhouse porch or a courtyard wall of grey stucco, where the fan-shaped shadow of a palm can play across the plaster beside it and geckos gather in the warm glow on summer nights.
