Bizen Garden Stool - Blue

Denim blue has an easy, lived-in quality, the colour of a favourite work shirt faded by summers in the garden. It glazes the rounded tiers of this stacked stool, which rest on a sandy, textured base ring like the foot of a hand-thrown pot. Among silver and blue foliage, such as blue fescue, agave or a haze of Russian sage, it looks entirely at home. Set it on the pool deck beside a striped chaise, or on a screened porch with a pile of seed catalogues on top and blue plumbago spilling from a pot alongside.

• Glazed ceramic in denim blue over a sandy beige base
