Small Squirrel Table-top Bronze Statue

Tucked between pots of thyme on the terrace step, a squirrel sits up on its haunches, bushy tail curled behind it, delicate paws held close as if it has just found something worth keeping. It is easy to imagine the rustle of leaves overhead and the scatter of acorns on the path. The bronze fur is finely textured beneath your fingertip, the little figure cool and pleasingly heavy in your palm. On an autumn afternoon the air smells of woodsmoke and fallen leaves around it.

The squirrel was modelled in clay and cast in bronze by the lost-wax method, then given a hand-applied patina whose warm, subtle variations bring out its form. Suited to indoor or outdoor display, it is just the size for a bookshelf, mantel, desk or a nook among garden plants.
