Regency Park Backless Bench

A backless bench is the most generous seat in a garden: it faces both ways at once, towards the border on one side and the view on the other. This Regency Park design stretches just over five feet, long enough for two to sit with a trug of cut dahlias between them, and its open form lets light and the sweep of a lawn pass straight through. Set it along the edge of a reflecting pool, at the foot of a pleached hornbeam walk, or against a podocarpus hedge in a Florida courtyard. In pale grey or beige it reads like weathered stone among drifts of lavender and nepeta.
