Manhattan Console Base
Manhattan Console Base
(free shipping)
Narrow halls and garden-room passages are where a console earns its keep. The Manhattan console base is a compact 34 inches wide and only 16 deep, yet stands a tall 36 inches, so it holds its own against a wall without crowding the way through. Its neoclassical frame is clean and architectural, a good foil for something living: a Boston fern spilling from its pot, a stoneware jug of branches cut from the garden, or a pair of rosemary standards in clay pots. Top it with marble, stone or glass, and hang an old mirror above to double the green.
