Mandarin Settee

Some seats are made for conversation, and a settee for two is the most companionable of them. Five feet wide, with a seat just over four feet long and twenty-two inches deep, the Mandarin Settee from O'Brien Ironworks' Dynasty collection has room to turn towards one another over a glass of something cold. Its name hints at Eastern garden pavilions and the lacquer colours they wore; try it in Chinese red beside a stand of black bamboo, or in sage among ferns on a shaded porch. Add a pair of plump cushions in a crisp outdoor fabric and listen to the fountain while the afternoon slips away.
