Kazuto Wall Sconce

A deep bell of a shade, curved like a single bluebell flower, gives this sconce its particular grace. It hangs from a sweeping gooseneck arm in painted black iron, and the depth of the bell shields the eye, so the light reads as a soft spot of gold on the step below rather than a glare. The black is plain and unfussy, letting the curve of the arm do the talking. Hang it by a back door beside a pot of mint, or at the corner of a pergola draped in Confederate jasmine, whose sweet scent is never stronger than on a warm, still night.
