Gothic Wire Settee

There is a pleasing contradiction in a wirework settee: it is made of iron, yet looks as delicate as lace. The Gothic Wire Settee joins the romance of the Gothic Revival with the airy craft of Victorian wirework, and at three and a half feet across it is sized for two sitting close, or one with a cat and a seed catalogue. Its openness lets dappled light fall through onto the paving below, which suits it to smaller spaces: a courtyard of potted citrus, a landing beside the herb garden, a nook on a screened porch scented with gardenia. Painted white or light grey, it has all the freshness of a summer frock.
