This French Country base is built for exactly that kind of meal. Stretching a little over seven feet, it will carry a generous slab of limestone or glass for a crowd, and its ironwork, in the relaxed spirit of a Provençal farmhouse, keeps the look grounded rather than grand. Stand it on a gravel terrace among lavender and olive trees in terracotta, with a string of lights overhead, or bring it into a sunroom where the light pours in on all sides.
