Flapping Duck Bronze Statue

Wings thrown wide, this bronze duck holds the instant just before lift-off, the moment a pond turns from stillness to a rush of water and feathers. Set it near a lake edge, on a terrace or in a lodge great room and the eye keeps returning to the spread of its wings. You can almost hear the slap of water and smell the reeds and cool, wet air of the shoreline. Under the hand, each feather is defined, the bronze cool and firm.

It was sculpted in clay and cast in bronze by the lost-wax method, then given a hand-applied aged patina that deepens with outdoor exposure. It is suitable for indoor or outdoor display and looks best where it has room to spread, such as a lakefront garden, a terrace or a wide hearth.
