Fairborn Fire Table

Woodsmoke is romantic but impractical on a crowded terrace; a gas flame gives the same pull towards the centre without the sparks. This long, rectangular fire table in hand-painted black aluminium has a panelled base and a slatted top that frames the burner like a hearth set into a table. Glass beads glint around the flame, and a cover settles over the tray once the evening winds down. Arrange the Fairborn sofa and chairs around it on the pool terrace, and let a hedge of sweet viburnum or a pot of lemon verbena scent the dark.
