Chinese Chippendale Ottoman
(free shipping)
Chinese Chippendale fretwork has been at home in gardens since the eighteenth century, when it laced the railings of pavilions and bridges on English estates. This ottoman borrows that geometry and folds it into a low, square footstool with an open, airy character that lets light and breeze pass through. Pull it up to a club chair on the loggia for tired feet at the end of the day, or top it with a cushion of your own and let it serve as a perch for iced tea. In Chinese Red it has real swagger beside clipped boxwood; in white it settles quietly among ferns on a shaded porch.
