Counter height is the height of conversation: guests lean in while someone slices limes and a pot of jasmine rice steams on the stove. The Chinese Chippendale Counter Stool with Arms sits at twenty-four inches, sized for standard kitchen counters, and its arms make it a seat to settle into rather than perch on. The lattice back reads beautifully against a splashback of hand-glazed tile or a window framing the garden beyond. Use a set at a kitchen island scented with jars of lemon verbena and mint, or in a garden room that opens onto the terrace. White keeps things breezy; faux cherry brings the warm glow of polished wood tones.
