Centurion Curule Backless Chair

A backless chair is a sociable thing: it can face the table, the view or the person beside you with equal ease. This curule version, its crossed legs drawn from the folding seats of Rome, is twenty-six inches wide with a seventeen-inch seat height, at home at a dining table, a potting bench or a writing desk on the veranda. Set a pair beneath a canopy of jasmine, where the scent hangs heaviest at dusk, or at the counter of an outdoor kitchen. Choose French blue for a breezy Mediterranean note, or beige to sit quietly among sand-coloured stone.
