Boy Riding Ostrich Bronze Statue

Round the bend of a long garden walk and there, rising above the tall grasses, a young boy rides an ostrich with his face lit by pure delight. The bird's long neck stretches forward and its powerful legs seem mid-stride, while the multi-toned patina shifts from honey to deep brown as clouds pass over the sun. Lay your hand on its feathered body and the bronze is warm from the afternoon, textured and alive under your palm. With the grasses whispering in the breeze and the scent of warm earth rising, it feels as if the pair might race off across the lawn at any moment.

The sculpture was modeled in clay and cast in bronze by the lost-wax method, capturing the ostrich's long neck, strong legs and feathered body along with the boy's joyful expression. At more than seven feet tall, solid bronze gives it the durability and presence to anchor a family garden, an estate lawn or the end of a long vista.
