The Avignon dining table brings that tradition home at 72 by 36 inches and a standard 29-inch dining height, ample for a family supper or a summer crowd. Its French Provincial character is warm and unfussy. Set it on pea gravel beneath a broad live oak, finish it with a top of stone or glass, and fill the centre with bunches of lavender, small pots of basil and the last of the evening light.
