Antibes Bench

Lay a striped towel over a sun-warmed wall and you have the beginnings of this bench. Low and long, it has a round bolster at each end and an open back, so it can face the garden or the house with equal ease. The black aluminium frame is slim and lightly curved, and the cushion is banded in taupe and charcoal stripes that keep it looking breezy. Use it at the edge of a bed of salvia and lavender, where bees drone through the afternoon, or along a pool terrace as a place to dry off in the sun.
